Study Abroad Opportunities for Faculty/Staff
Meredith's efforts to increase global awareness are not limited to students. The College also provides faculty and staff with opportunities to experience other cultures.
- China Faculty Exchange: Through an exchange program with Dongbei University in Dalian, China, Meredith faculty members teach as visiting professors for up to six weeks in Dalian.
In return, Dongbei University sends a faculty member to teach at Meredith each spring. To read about Meredith's most recent exchange, visit www.meredith.edu/traveljournals/china.
- Bolivia Faculty Exchange: Each fall, Meredith College welcomes a visiting instructor from Bolivia, who teaches courses from the College catalog each fall. Meredith faculty members have the option of teaching in Bolivia as well.
- Faculty/Staff London Program: Each summer Meredith selects a number of faculty and staff members to travel to London to join the students and faculty of our study abroad program there. This weeklong program allows faculty and staff members to gain experience abroad while observing how our study abroad programs work.
Faculty Research Abroad: Many of Merediths faculty members have traveled abroad to further their own research interests. For example, Professor of Biology John Mecham spent the Spring 2006 semester on a Fulbright grant in Kenya. Visit www.meredith.edu/kenya/ to learn more and read Mecham's journal about his experience.
